Hahn Horticulture Garden Wedding at Virginia Tech

I’ve been so excited to share Zach + Maegan’s Hahn Horticulture Garden Wedding at Virginia Tech. Not only are these two great friends of ours, they also really know how to throw a party. And they chose an amazing group of people to surround them on their wedding day.

ABOUT THE COUPLE

Zach and Maegan actually met on Tinder. It’s not uncommon for couples to meet through dating apps anymore. But Maegan said that Zach was the ONLY Tinder match she followed through with. And I’m really glad she did.

Zach has been friends with my husband for well over a decade, but I personally met Zach through mutual friends about 10 years ago. However, I never really got to know him until I was married to my husband. (You’ll spot my hubby in some of these photos as a groomsman.) He’s been in the military for quite some time now, so we only get to see him when he’s in town. But, we always look forward to seeing him and we ALWAYS have a great time.

Zach met Maegan while stationed in Virginia. When he finally brought her around his family and friends, I thought she was perfect for him. They both have a great sense of humor and they are so fun to be around. When I went to visit them in Miami for their engagement session, Maegan and I got along so well and we clicked pretty quickly. So, I was pretty stoked for this wedding day!

THEIR HAHN HORTICULTURE GARDEN WEDDING

Maegan went to Virginia Tech, so they chose the beautiful Hahn Horticulture Garden at Virginia Tech for their wedding location. They had their ceremony in the garden and their reception was under a tent right outside of the garden. It was a perfect spring wedding. I LOVE garden weddings.

Maegan chose a classic, timeless color palette of white and green for their Hahn Horticulture Garden wedding. Her bridesmaids’ dresses were a beautiful deep green and her flowers were white with green succulents. Her centerpieces were also succulents and greenery. It was the perfect simple and timeless reception decor.

Maegan and Zach got ready at The Residence Inn hotel about a mile from Virginia Tech. They gathered with their wedding party and spent the morning with their friends, getting ready, drinking some great liquor and eating snacks. It was a perfect start to the day. After getting ready, we met at Hahn Garden for their ceremony. Zach isn’t one to show much emotion, but he was struggling to hold back his tears as Maegan walked down the aisle with her dad. They said their vows, exchanged rings, and sealed it with a kiss.

THE RECEPTION

After the ceremony and portraits, it was time for their tented reception. They were introduced and went right into their first dance. We had some of the best food I’ve ever had at a wedding and listened to speeches given by the maid of honor, best man, and Maegan’s brother. Then, her dad read a special speech. He had a stroke a year or 2 ago and it changed his motor skills. So, it was really amazing to witness him cheering on his daughter.

After the speeches, cake cutting, and the parent dances, it was time to open the dance floor. They had a dj for the first half of the reception, but then had a friend of theirs perform with his guitar for the second half. Zach got up and sang a little with him. It was a fun evening!

At sunset, Maegan changed into her mom’s traditional Korean dress for some portraits. It was a beautiful bright pink and a perfect way to honor her culture. I thought it was really special and I know her mom loved it!

After dancing the evening away, Zach and Maegan chose a sparkler exit to end their wedding day. Then, we all went back to the hotel and continued to party and hang out throughout the night. It was a perfect weekend.
