Melissa & Darrin Proposal | Ponce City Market

Meet Darrin & Melissa

Melissa is one of my best friends, so when Darrin sent me a message asking me to capture his proposal, I got so excited. I squealed like a little girl and jumped up and down, and then responded to his message and told him I would be honored! 

The Proposal

The plan was to get Melissa to agree to a family photo session, which was pretty easy since they have the cutest family. So we planned everything without her knowing. We discussed locations and dates and we were just waiting on the ring to get sized! I was so excited for my friends! So we planned to meet at Ponce City Market in Atlanta, Georgia and we were just going to hang out and take some photos and shop around. Well, we were going to go up to the rooftop and get the Atlanta skyline behind them for the proposal, but I asked the people that were allowing roof access if there was a good isolated spot for this. Turns out, we planned this on the wrong day. They told us there were over 500 kids on the roof. So we changed plans. I walked around and tried to find an isolated place so that it was still a private moment. Since it was a cloudy and rainy day, there weren’t a lot of people around the outside of the building and I figured it would be special to have the sign that said ‘Ponce City Market’ as a background. Now they’ll never forget where it happened! Although, I doubt that would be a problem.  Everything ended up so perfect for them and no one could be happier with the way things turned out! 

What’s Next

Well, after I jumped for joy, again..and again.. and again. We have started talking about her wedding and I can’t wait to be a part of it. She is planning a river/woodland wedding in May and I am so thrilled for her and so honored to be able to be there and capture her well deserved perfect day! I feel like she has truly found her soulmate and I know I’m going to cry my eyes out on her wedding day! I can’t wait! 

P.S. – One of my favorite images from this session is when she realized I was a part of the planning and pointed to me saying ‘YOUUUUU!’ What are friends for?!
